HOW TO PREVENT A HANGOVER: BEFORE/WHILE YOU’RE DRINKING

EAT A HIGH PROTEIN, NUTRIENT DENSE MEAL

Stick with nutrient dense proteins like grass-fed, grass-finished beef, bison, elk, and antibiotic free poultry.

Add extra sea salt to your meals on days you intend to drink alcohol to load up on the valuable, hangover reducing electrolyte sodium.

Pair with a clean complex carbohydrate source like rice, potatoes or sweet potatoes, and some organic, fiber filled greens.

Consume 1-2 hours before you start drinking.

SUPER HYDRATE

Drink a gallon of water during the day leading up to optimize energy levels, liver, and kidney function.

AVOID SODA & SUGARY MIXERS

The sugar mixed with the alcohol throws your digestive process out of wack making it more difficult for your body to break down, process and detox the alcohol from your system.

No soda, no juices, no sugary mixers.
Stay away from diet soda too.

An argument can be made that the artificial sweeteners in diet soda are actually worse for health than the sugar found in regular.

You don’t need either.

TAKE 400MG ALPHA-LIPOIC ACID AND 2000MG VITAMIN C.

ALA is a powerful antioxidant that helps your body produce glutathione which supports liver detox and immunity.

Vitamin C helps to block the conversion of alcohol into aldehyde, the most hangover causing metabolite that also causes very fast aging, wrinkles, etc.

LOAD UP ON ELECTROLYTES!

It’s completely possible to drink loads of water and still get a nasty hangover.

The electrolytes phosphate, magnesium, sodium, and calcium are all depleted when consuming alcohol, which trigger hangover symptoms.

To combat this fact and mitigate symptoms of a hangover, I always add extra Redmond’s sea salt to my meals on days I plan on drinking.

I’ll also add flavored electrolytes to my vodka/waters while I drink.

The most important serving of electrolytes though will be the one you have prior to going to bed.

Keep in mind, if you consume enough electrolytes while drinking, it is physically impossible to experience common hangover symptoms that stem from dehydration

Yet 99% of people will be too lazy to do this and will
pay for it the next day.

STICK TO ONE KIND OF DRINK

This will avoid upsetting your stomach.
Vodka & water or vodka & tequila are my go to’s.

Low calorie, efficient, and gives me the opportunity to hydrate while drinking alcohol.

HOW TO PREVENT A HANGOVER: AFTER YOU DRINK

MORE ELECTROLYTES & WATER

Before bed and all throughout the following day until bed time.

Sometimes hangover symptoms creep up on us if we don’t see the process through.

DON’T EAT GARBAGE AT 2 A.M.

McDonald’s, Taco Bell or seed oil infused Denny’s breakfast you think is “soaking up the alcohol”, yea, that’s not true.

You’ve already put enough toxins into your body.

Adding processed, sugary, greasy foods will only intensify a hangover. It’s best not to eat.

Fasting is actually a phenomenal opportunity for your body to detox itself.

If you feel you absolutely need to eat, keep it light and clean.

A protein shake, banana, or some antioxidant rich blueberries are all solid, nutritious options.

TAKE ANOTHER SERVING OF ALA AND VITAMIN C

Before bed and the next morning.

WORKOUT THE NEXT MORNING

I realize this one won’t be popular, but the endorphins that are released in the brain while exercising actually have the ability to treat hangover symptoms!

You’ll also sweat out toxins that shouldn’t be in your body and burn off the extra calories you took in the night before.

This is the “SECRET SAUCE” to stopping a hangover dead in its tracks that most people will never figure out.

Fortunately, you are not most people as you were intelligent enough to read this.

So there you have it. Don’t get in your own head thinking it’s “too much” or you don’t have the time for it.

Look at it from a different perspective. As someone who understands how valuable their time is, hence why you can’t afford not to do it!

Don’t let your next day, or day’s productivity, attitude, energy, and value be completely destroyed because you were too lazy to drink some water and take some very simple measures that support your own best interests.

You deserve to feel your best at all times and it’s your responsibility to do whatever it takes to force that outcome!
