9 Things To Stop Saying Forever!

Our words matter. They have the ability to build us up, or break us down.

So it’s important we choose the words that will help us reach our goals and evolve into the people we wish to become…

Here are 9 things you should NEVER say and why…

1. “I don’t have time.”

You don’t know how to manage your time, you’re inefficient with your time, you lack structure, or need to be a bit more disciplined with your time perhaps. Or maybe you’re simply unaware of the time you waste every day on things that don’t serve you. But you absolutely have time. Because you’re gifted 168 new hours in a week – and for the most part, you have full control of how you spend it. ⠀

2. “I don’t feel like it.”

That’s irrelevant. The real world doesn’t give you a discount because of your feelings. Nobody feels like it all the time. That’s where discipline comes in. You don’t have to feel like it, but you do it and you do it well because you were put on this planet to do great things. ⠀ ⠀

3. “I’m too tired and don’t have the energy.”

The people who go the hardest seem to have the most energy. Is it possible that perhaps they’ve figured out something you haven’t? It’s definitely not stronger coffee or energy supplements. It’s having a purpose and then creating energy and momentum through action. The harder you go, the more energy you’ll have.⠀ ⠀

4. “It’s not my fault.”

Trust me, it is. If it’s affecting your life in any way, it’s 1000% your responsibility to handle it. There’s no knight in shining armor galloping from a land far away on a white stallion to save you. You have to save yourself.

5. “I’ll do it tomorrow.”

This saying may come in many forms. “I’ll start on Monday, after the holidays, at the beginning of the year”…

The list goes on and on…

Stop it. No more procrastinating. No more excuses. No more BS.

Do it now. Your future self will be grateful.

6. “This is how I’ve always done it.”

Duly noted. Perhaps I should remind you that the only way things change is if we do! We need to constantly reevaluate what we are doing and who we’re doing it with to determine if it’s actually helping move us forward or keeping us stuck.⠀

7. “It’s harder for me because ___.”

It’s hard for everyone at every level. Period. But winners understand that hard doesn’t mean bad. In fact, unless it’s hard, it’s probably not going to be rewarding. Adjust your perspective. The harder the task the more opportunity for growth. Not to mention, if you know something as hard at least you also have confirmation that it’s possible.

8. “That’s not my job.”

This mentality is guaranteed to keep you stagnant with your professional growth! If you want to stay in the same position, make the same money forever and make yourself a highly dispensable member of the team, keep thinking it’s not your job. But if you want to grow, make more money and develop a reputation in the workplace as a dependable badass who gets things done, take ownership over every problem & then find solutions to get those problems solved!

9. “I’ll try.”

People who say “I’ll try” have given themselves permission to fail out of the gate. If “try” is part of your internal or external dialogue, the battle is lost before it’s even started.

Don’t try. DO.
