Most have seen the movie “300”.
300 gives a glimpse of life in ancient Sparta.
This society was a powerhouse of feared, disciplined warriors…
But the cost of such excellence was extreme.
Every Spartan boy was scrutinized for physical fitness from birth.
Those deemed “unfit” were brought to a mountain gorge and left for the wolves.
An act accepted even by their mothers, to uphold the physical standards of their culture.
At age 7…
Spartan boys were taken from their parents and enrolled in a rigorous training program known as the Agoge.
The Agoge was brutal and designed to teach young Spartan boys to hunt, fight, and kill.
Their training continued until they were 30.
Everyone loves stories about warriors.
But few could fathom the sacrifices that were required for the warrior to become a warrior.
Today, society is far more civilized and the stakes are not as dire.
But like it…
A man’s value still hinges on his strength, capability, and competence.
Carrying heavy items, changing a flat tire, opening the jar when your lady cannot, etc.
Should a worst-case scenario occur…
Men must have the fitness to save a child’s life, or save his own child’s life.
If you are a man under the age of 65 and you’re not disabled or terminally ill…
There is no excuse to not be in the gym.
None.
The fitter, and stronger you are the better husband, father, leader, and human being.
That’s a fact.
So lift weights.
Move more.
Eat plenty of protein- at least 1 gram of protein per pound of your goal weight.
Take 5-10g of creatine every single day.
It’s not just about being physically strong.
It’s about living a strong life and being ready to act when it matters most.
