Here are some of the key benefits of eating elk….

Great For Fat Loss

Elk is a phenomenal addition to any weight loss meal plan.

It’s super high in protein, low fat, and low calorie.

Despite being a “red meat”, Elk has 1/5 the amount of fat as regular beef, yet is richer in healthy Omega-3’s, CLA, and other “good fats” that aid in weight loss, improve muscle mass, and increase cardiovascular health!

With only 218 calories (and 30 grams of protein) in a 4oz serving, elk makes a great addition to your diet if you’re looking to lose fat and be healthier overall!

Amazing For Building Muscle

The high protein content of elk in particular supports the growth of lean muscle tissue – which improves body composition, aesthetics and further enhances the fat loss process.

The rate at which our bodies naturally burn calories is determined by our “resting metabolic rate.” The more lean muscle our bodies have, the faster our natural metabolism will be. In layman’s terms, the more lean muscle you have, the more calories your body will burn organically throughout the day, hence the more fat you’ll burn as well.

If you’re not getting enough protein in your diet, it will be very difficult to lose fat at a desirable rate. This is why all of our meal plans are high in protein.

High in Protein

Elk is an excellent source of protein as mentioned.

In fact, with about 30 grams of protein in each 4oz serving, elk nutrition facts are actually comparable to other healthy white meat proteins, such as chicken and turkey.

As we all know, protein is a crucial component of many aspects of health. Your body needs protein to build/repair tissues, produce enzymes, hormones and form the foundation of your muscles, skin, teeth & bones.

According to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, increasing dietary protein intake by just 15% may result in increased satiety (fewer feelings of hunger) and a decreased caloric intake, which is essential for fat loss!

Another study out of New Zealand showed that eating a high-protein diet lowered levels of ghrelin in the brain. Ghrelin is the hormone responsible for stimulating feelings of hunger, so clearly, this would be advantageous.

Improved Brain/Mental Health

Scientific research has conclusively determined a direct connection between what you put on your plate and your mood, focus, cognitive function, memory, and mental health.

Many nutrients in elk have been found to promote brain health. Vitamin B12, niacin, and vitamin B6 are all-powerful nutrients found in elk meat.

They play a positive role in cognitive functions such as learning, memory, preventing cognitive decline, protecting against Alzheimer’s disease, and lowering instances of depression.

Boosts Immune System

Elk meat is a great source of zinc, which is an important mineral that plays a central role in the health of your immune system.

One study conducted by researchers at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit and the University of Michigan showed that adults who supplemented with zinc had a reduction in the incidence of inflammation, infection, levels of oxidative stress, and occurrences of sickness, compared with those who did not consume adequate levels of zinc as part of their lifestyle.

In summary, incorporating elk into your diet and healthy meal plan is a winning play regardless if your goal is weight loss, muscle building or just living a healthier lifestyle!
