What’s Your Story?

What’s Your Story?

It’s truly remarkable just how fast the time goes by.  How has 2014 been for you so far?  What kind of story would you say you’ve written about yourself this year?  Have things panned out the way you intended?  Did you run into a set back that caused you to temporarily lose momentum and put your big plans on hold?
Regardless of how your year has started, the good news is you have 100 days to recreate, re-write, and finish your “story” of 2014 however you see fit!

Come January 2015, what kind of story do want to have written about yourself in 2014?

Perhaps a story of…

PERSONAL and PROFESSIONAL PROSPERITY and how you were able to improve on your quality of life by setting aggressive goals and taking massive action to follow through and accomplish them.
REDEMPTION and SUCCESS and how you decided to no longer accept an average existence, or allow anyone or anything to hold you back from achieving what it is you truly deserve, and as a direct result made this the very best year of your life!

Or maybe your story will be geared more toward…

MISSED OPPORTUNITY and REGRET and how you failed to step up and make your move despite numerous opportunities presented, that for reasons unknown you allowed to slip by.

EXCUSES and MISERY and how everybody and everything else is to blame for you not getting where you told yourself you would be.

This can correlate to your career, relationships, weight loss goals, getting into the gym and working out regularly, or staying consistent with a clean diet, and having more energy, confidence, focus and overall living a healthier lifestyle as a direct result.

Regardless of what area or areas your story will focus on, in less than 100 days your story for 2014 will be concluded.

If your story is of PERSONAL and PROFESSIONAL PROSPERITY, REDEMPTION, or SUCCESS, then you my friend are a SELLER, and have a potential best seller on your hands.  Clearly you have committed to excellence, dedication, and have made the conscious decision to raise your standards and create a better life for yourself, your family, loved ones and friends.  You’ve distanced yourself from the nay-sayers, given and accepted no excuses, and have stayed focused on achieving the desired outcome despite all of life’s daily stressors, obstacles and temptations.

If you find the underlying pretense of your story is of MISSED OPPORTUNITY and REGRET, or EXCUSES and MISERY, then you are a BUYER.

You have bought into the same excuses and patterns that have led so many before you into the sea of mediocrity.  Instead of putting in the time and effort to move your life forward, you have bought into the art of procrastination, lack of structure and discipline, laziness, or concerning yourself not with bettering your own life and circumstances, but instead engaging in any of the typical negative garbage circulating on TV, social media, or toxic people that hold you back and bring you down.  Please don’t get me wrong; this does NOT make you a bad person.  Unfortunately this type of activity has become the operating norm, and the mentality is 100% contagious.  It is much more convenient and comfortable for us to just go though the motions, and conform to the standards of the ordinary, as opposed to raise our standards, and take determined action to stand out, excel, and become the upgraded versions of ourselves!

If you plan on finishing the year strong, you must become a seller! You need to sell yourself on the importance of goal setting, your personal reasons to want to accomplish these goals, and your specific vision of who exactly you want to be.  With less than 100 days remaining in 2014, the time to take action is NOW!
If you’re one of the many needing and wanting to re-write your story of 2014, you need to understand it comes down to 1 thing…

Character.

You need to take a hard, long, and most importantly honest look into your soul and determine what it is you actually value.  Believe it or not implementing minor adjustments can serve as the catalyst for huge progress and positive, lasting change…If you aspire to turn it all around and conclude the last chapter of 2014 on a high and productive note, but just don’t know where to start, I highly suggest doing any or all of the following.

1) JOIN A GYM OR JOIN A NEW GYM

Sometimes you just have to stop thinking so much and act! The reality is there is no down side to doing this so stop mentally terrorizing yourself and make it happen!  There is no shortage of gyms currently offering $9.99 a month specials with NO CONTRACTS.  No excuses.

2) COMMIT 1 OR 2 DAYS A WEEK TO MEAL PREP

It is not realistic to think you will be able to cook 3-6 times a day, (depending on your goals) so preparation is vital if you plan to lose weight, build muscle, or just look and feel better overall.  If cooking isn’t your thing or if you’d rather utilize your time to better serve you, there are no shortage of companies and services that can take all the guess work out of the equation as far as portion control, macros, variety, and save you incalculable amounts of time at the grocery store, in the kitchen, and cleaning up after the fact.  No matter what the problem, remember there are always multiple solutions.

3) READ OR LISTEN TO 1 BOOK (or audio book) ON PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT EACH MONTH

If you think you “don’t have the time” to take on another obligation, try spending 10 -15 less minutes a day scrolling through your social media feeds or watching TV.  It’s no coincidence that the worlds wealthiest and most successful people make the time to read each and every day.
***Authors Suggested Reading List*** Crucial Conversations by Kerry Patterson, Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins, The Magic Lamp: Goal Setting for People Who Hate Setting Goals by Keith Ellis.

4) STOP PROCRASTINATING!

Take a minute and think of something, or any number of things that you’ve been putting off, that you know are important, and know you should have already done that for whatever reason you just haven’t gotten around to it….Got it? Yea that thing. Do IT NOW! You know damn well you’ll be much happier and more fulfilled once you do it! So get it handled.

5) GIVE SOMETHING BACK

Whether it’s in your community,  a reputable charity that has significant meaning to you, or to the less fortunate.  You will never experience satisfaction more so then when you selflessly help someone else.
The final chapter of your 2014 is in the process of being written.  Will it be viewed as the sub par consequence of neglect, poor character and values, lack of motivation and ambition, or will it be an uplifting and courageous example of utilizing the resources and talents you’ve been blessed within a captivating tale that will inspire others to also take action?  That decision my friends, is entirely up to you.
